Hello all, yet again another great week has passed in Harpers Ferry. Jay and I have been hard at work this week and learned about many different aspects about park operations. We worked with administration and got a chance to meet the people that work behind the scenes that allow everything in the park to happen. We got chance to check out how contractors are hired and how projects are started and processed.
We also worked with the Park's IT Specialist and he also let us take his Segway around for a spin.
In addition to working with administration, we were sent on an investigation to gather evidence of some graffiti that has recently plagued Maryland Heights. During this investigation, Jay and I took pictures of the areas and landmarks that were tagged.
The last part of our work week ended with the Fees department. For myself, I can honestly say that this was one of my favorite experiences so far in the program. Working and interacting with the visitors was fun and we did a good job handling the money. I also was asked to take a picture with someone's son and a visitor was gracious enough to give the park a donation while I was working at the booth. With one adventurous month down, Jay and I are looking forward to what else the Park has in store for us.
