We spent Tuesday and Wednesday with admin learning how they work with the other sections of the park and keep things running behind the scenes. Thursday we spent the day completing our wildfire training with many other ProRangers from the Capital Region. We started our wildfire training by completing the pack test. We had to walk 3 miles with a 45 pound weight belt in under 45 minutes. All ProRangers in attendance completed this task. The video show us practicing with the fire shelters. After lunch we spent time learning how to cut firebreaks and learning different types of hose lays.
Friday was another fun day for most of the Capital Region ProRangers. We spent the day in a defensive driving class and course. We were able to operate most of the vehicles that the National Park Service employs to become familiarized with them. The week of June 5th Cailin and I will be working with Cultural Resources learning about their role at a National Park and what projects they currently have ongoing at the battlefield.
