The "History of the National Park Service" class was taken by ProRangers in the spring semester. The class consisted of Cohorts 2, 3 and a few students that are not enrolled in the ProRanger Program. The course examined the establishment and the mission of the National Park Service. Thanks to our professor Amanda B. Casper, a NPS historian, we learned a great deal about the history of the NPS. She even gave us an opportunity to visit Independence National Historic Park where we listened to NPS employees, including a law enforcement and interpretive ranger, about their daily experiences working for the park. The overall knowledge and skills I have gained in this class will better prepare me for the future of working for the National Park Service.
